Dispatch Earth Day

56 years of Earth Day have brought us here

From 20 million Californians in 1970 to a billion people across 193 countries, and why energy became the whole argument.

(56 Years and counting)

You may see the posts across social media but few know the roots of this Earth Day tradition. It began as a grassroots movement (if you could consider 20 million people grassroots) in 1970 when some folks in California wanted to bring attention to the protection of the environment. Fast forward 56 years, and it has become a global movement of over 1 billion people across 193 countries. While it has focused on many topics over the years, energy has become the main focus between 2025 and 2026.

Energy is the backbone of our planet. It enables transportation, technology, manufacturing, food systems, quite literally everything. And they say that with great power comes great responsibility. We have been steadily working (for the past 12 years) on building towards a future where energy is accessible, abundant, and clean. It took a bit for the technology to come around but we believe that the day has come.
